Free Homeschooling Materials from Nasa
Not all homechoolers realize that many of the educational resources that are out there for teachers are also available to homeschoolers. A while back NASA and the American Museum of Natural History were giving away free copies of the Journey to the Stars DVD and educator guide to teachers so I signed up to get mine as a homeschooling parent. I just received it in the mail this week and it’s great! It lists pre and post showing activities, it has work based on various grade levels. Unfortunately the demand for this kit has been so overwhelming that they are temporarily not offering it but you can sign up for their newsletter to be notified when they do. They do have the educator’s guide online in PDF form if you’re planning to see Journey to the Stars at a the American Museum of Natrual History in New York.
In the mean time NASA has an amazing teaching resource finder on their site that allows you to search by type of material, scientific discipline and grade level. With a quick search I found this great educator’s guide to rockets with lots of various activities and information.
What are your favorite places for free education materials?
