Blending Home Made and Store Brought Items for Great Gift Giving.

My kids were invited to a birthday this weekend and much like most of the parents I know their child has plenty of toys so we were at a loss of what to give.  What we ended up doing was giving a mix of store brought and home made goodies.  My oldest had a bracelet that she had made for the birthday girl ready to go and I helped them both make a home made book from some paper, yarn and an oatmeal box.  They decorated the cover of the book with drawings.  We put this all together with a friend and went in on a lovely stone heart from a great local store, Earth and State,  that sells fair trade items along with great wooden crayons purchased from the same store.

I love to give gifts in groups or themes hence the book and crayons.  Also for kids consumables are usually much better than non and since most of our friends homeschool crafts supplies are always welcome.

Do you give gifts in theme groupings ? What home made gifts do you like to make?
