Not Looking Good for the Garden

Last year's garden at the height of the season.

This will be the first summer in three years that we haven’t put in a vegetable garden. Currently our raised beds sit overgrown and lonely. This is partly because our greenhouse was destroyed over the winter and despite having the supplies we haven’t had time to repair it so we didn’t start any seeds this spring. Additionally we still have some chickens that desperately need their coop completed. So we’ve decided to focus our energy on the chickens this summer and getting their new home built. We still have our CSA share which I upped to a full share which should help to keep us knee-deep in veggies. If all goes well with the coop we’ll then repair the greenhouse and maybe get a fall garden going. I’m trying to look at this as a positive lesson in prioritization and not spreading ourselves too thin but it’s tough.
