A place of their own, the reading nook.

Newly Formed Reading Nook

Yesterday we put together a little reading nook in the unused space at the end of our daughter’s bed. This space often collected stuff and was never a very usable space but with the addition of a small chair and two book ledges made long ago from these plans we made a great little reading nook right by the window.

We have been stuggling for ways to help our kids enjoy reading. Our oldest, by traditional standards, has been slow to start reading but is slowly picking up steam. Despite her new found ability she doesn’t see out and start reading. So we are always providing some encouragement. That’s what this nook is for, to provide her with a nice cozy place to sit and read quietly away from distractions.
