Super Easy Thick Delicious Greek Style Yogurt
A few weeks ago I showed you how to make yogurt in your slow cooker and mentioned how I used it to make Greek style yogurt.
To make this tick, almost cream cheese like yogurt, simply put the yogurt in a strainer lined with a clean thin dishtowel (or preferably cheesecloth which I didn’t have).
Place the strainer over a container to catch the whey wrap the excess dishtowel/cheese cloth on top and then leave it in the fridge overnight. This method will work with home made or plain store brought yogurt. What will be left in the dishcloth is wonderfully thick Greek yogurt and in the container you will have whey, save it!
The Greek yogurt can then be used in many dishes dishes. One great use is to mix it in with warm pasta, it creates a cheesy sauce. My kids loved it! We also mixed the Greek yogurt with honey and strawberries for an awesome, healthy, desert. Although I haven’t tried it yet the whey can be used in various ways one really good one which I look forward to trying is using it to bake bread. I found this great post on making whey bread.
