Loss and Care.

Over the last two weeks my extended family’s situation has changed dramatically. We said goodbye to my amazing Aunt who was a wonderfully strong woman and the glue that held the extended family together. She always hosted Christmas and birthday parties she was amazing. She lost her long battle with cancer on August 13th after many days in a wonderful hospice surrounded by friends and family.

My Grandmother, her mother, has now moved in with my mother which is causing some friction on both sides. Each woman is feeling a loss of some independence in their lives and the adjustment is slow but manageable. They are making great strides every day. I know what my mother is going through having to adjust to the demands of elder care myself, for my in laws. The key is to not fight it and just make it part of your life, once you let go it all works out.
