I’m back
So things have been hectic lately and we took a vacation to Chicago early last month. It was a great time but we’ve been catching up ever since.
Chicago is a wonderful city, so clean and friendly. We took public transit everywhere which was $2.00 for anything. From the airport to the city $2.00 a bus in town to a museum $2.00 a one hour train ride out to the botanical gardens $2.00. It was great! The girls had a good time and Will’s sister met us there and hung out for the week.
The highlight of the trip for SIP was millennium park. They have a great fountain there made up of two monoliths and a shallow pool. Each monolith has LEDs in it and they display different faces. The children all line up and wait until the face “spits” water out onto them (see picture). We were there for over an hour.
Along with this great fountain millennium park also has a large outdoor concert area where, I think, the Chicago orchestra plays. It’s a wildly beautiful and sculptural stage with a large open grass area. There is a large “bean” like sculpture of polished and highly reflective steel that you can walk under and a quite secluded feeling garden area with a place to dip your feet. It was one of the most spectacular city parks I have ever been too.
