Blending Home Made and Store Brought Items for Great Gift Giving.

My kids were invited to a birthday this weekend and much like most of the parents I know their child has plenty of toys so we were at a loss of what to give.  What we ended up doing was giving a mix of store brought and home made goodies.  My oldest had a bracelet…

First day of "school".

Today summer is officially over. Lunches are packed and the kids are heading out for their first day of “school”. Why the quotes? Well my kid’s don’t really go to school. My kids go to a resource center two days a week to be with other home schooled kids, play, create, run around, play, build…

Missed

I have been busy lately hunkering down with my family. My father in law went on hospice in mid June and passed away peacefully, at home, on July 6th. My father in law was an amazing man who always looked outside of himself and focused on how he could help others. He volunteered at soup…

Grateful

Sometimes I get down about things that are important but in the grand scheme of life minor. Currently my daughters cavities and tooth issues bring me down. My older daughter’s inability to deal with the dentist has me stumped and I have visions of my children toothless by 20. This is seriously not likely to…

My kid gave me homework!

“What’s the oldest building in the US that’s still around?” my oldest asked me as she was about to fall asleep. “I’m not sure I replied I’ll have to do some research but I’ll let you know.” “Could you please put it in my lunch for me?” she replied. I said “Sure.” So last night…

Electricity, Electricity

[ad name=”Amazon Toy Banner”] As a homeschooling parent, I’m constantly looking for fun and exciting things to do with my girls. Just recently I was introduced to snap circuits. Snap circuits allow you to create real functioning electrical systems without soldering etc… They use snaps, resembling those on a jacket, and snap together. The book…

Foraging for Wild Edibles

About a year and a half ago we moved into our new house, a 70’s contemporary on 1.25 acres. We have lots of trees, a large rocky hill and even a yard. This past year we realized that we also have wild edibles. Last summer we enjoyed the wild wine berries that were growing and…
