ActiFry – Healthy Fried Foods

I miss fried foods ever since I made a HUGE lifestyle change earlier in the year, in an attempt to get fit. During that time I have been using a ton of coconut oil. Coconut oil is a healthy oil that is rich in Omega 3s, the only thing it’s not healthy for is the wallet. This makes frying things like sweet potatoes with it expensive. When I found out that the T-Fal ActiFry used only a tablespoon of oil to cook two pounds of potatoes, I was impressed. I jumped at the opportunity when T-Fal asked me to try out their ActiFry. I wanted to see if I could make my sweet potato fries with healthy coconut oil and not break the bank.

To make the fries I sliced up about 1 3/4 lbs of sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch strips. I then soaked them briefly in water, drained them and patted them dry.

I then put them into the T-fal ActiFry, and drizzled them with only one tablespoon of melted coconut oil.

I hit the button on the ActiFry, set the timer and walked away! 45 minutes later we had delicious crispy sweet potato fries.

T-fal ActiFry Review

These fries cooked up quick and are a great healthy alternative to traditional fries. I’m looking forward to trying some of the great recipes in the ActiFry recipe book.

The ActiFry is able to cook with such little oil because it’s patented technology uses pulses of hot air along with a paddle that rotates the food for even cooking. The ActiFry came with a wonderful recipe book which includes not only recipes for wonderful, low oil, fried foods but full meals like stir fries and delicious deserts. Once I was done cooking the ActiFry broke down quickly and because most of its parts are dishwasher safe clean up was a breeze.

The sweet potato fries were a big (healthy) hit with the family!

These great machines are available at Bed Bath and Beyond and on Amazon but you have a chance to win one now! Simply leave a comment telling me what favorite recipe of yours you would like to make healthier or faster using the T-fal ActiFry.
