A nurse-in was scheduled for today at the ABC studios in NYC to protest comments made by BarbraWalters on “The View” about breastfeeding. Barbra Walters evidently made comments that breastfeeding is “gross and disgusting” and that she was glad that on a recent plane trip her hairdresser was sitting between her and a breastfeeding woman.

The AAP, WHO and even FORMULA COMPANIES have long stated that breastmilk is best. It is sad that our society has become so black and white that breasts are seen only as sex objects and that the feeding of a child in a natural loving way has been deemed “gross and discussting” by a woman that has an impact on so many. If Oprah can reak havoc with the beef industry then these comments by Barbra Walters can surely hurt the breastfeeding cause.
